Thursday Thirteen Edition #4

Thirteen Famous Cats in History

  1. Muezza was Mohammed's favorite cat. It is said that when Mohammed was called to prayer one day, he found Muezza sleeping on his robes. Rather than disturb the feline, he ripped the sleeve off to allow the cat to sleep in peace.
  2. Kaspar is a black cat found at The Savoy Hotel in London. Should you book a party of thirteen at their restaurant, expect Kaspar to join you so you have no bad luck!
  3. Mr. Peebles may be the world's smallest cat. Currently living in Illinois, he weighs only three pounds!
  4. Hellcat and Brownie inherited $415,000 from their deceased owner, Dr. William Grier of San Diego, CA, in the 1960s. Today, the descendents of the two felines are worth over $2 million dollars.
  5. Andy fell from a window on the 16th floor of a hotel and lived to tell about it. As a result, he has the world's longest non-lethal fall in history.
  6. In 1996, Scarlett and her five kittens were trapped inside of a burning building in Brooklyn, New York. However, Scarlett saved all five of them by carrying all of the youngsters to safety.
  7. Earlier this year, Tommy recognized that his owner was in need of help when the man fell out of his wheelchair. Tommy quickly dialed 9-1-1, and authorities came to help.
  8. Chyna had carried to term still-born kittens. However, when Valley Pet Association in Pittsburgh, PA, came across 25 kittens that had been abadoned, Chyna quickly filled in and took care of each and every last little one as only a mother can.
  9. Humphrey the Cat served as the black and white mascot of the British Prime Minister's residence, No. 10 Downing Street for eight years.
  10. Faith was the first cat to ever receive decorations for courage as a result of her bravery during an air raid in London in September, 1940.
  11. Catarina was the feline of Edgar Allan Poe. She is believed to be the inspiration behind his story, The Black Cat.
  12. Dusty is believed to hold the record for delivering the most kittens in a lifetime: 420.
  13. Dolores woke her owner up when she realized the house was on fire. She was the recipient of the American Humane Association's national William O. Stillman Award for bravery.

Cats are such remarkable, fascinating and beautiful beings. A list of 13 is way to short to do all special cats in the world justice. :)

Have a great Thursday, and I will return more often to read your stories, Zeus!

I never knew any of that! Great list!

Thanks for visiting mine.

There is a cat that lives with us and when she wants to be petted, she comes around... other than that we are guests in her home.

Our boxer, Domino, believes he's the boss in the house but he's deluded. The real boss in our home is S'earl, the cat. ;) Happy 13. Cheers.

Thanks for visiting my TT and passing on your cat wisdom.

Cats are so much cooler than dogs. :-)
Hey I posted some picks of my own feline pride last night before TT. They've never done anything more heroic than kill a really gross bug in our living room but I love all four of them!

This is why cats are awsome. Though I don't know if mine would call 911. :) He knows when I'm sick though, and he'll "take care" of me by staying close.

Oh, I loved this list! I think I may have to save it. :) Cats are the most wonderful creatures...I regret I spent years thinking I hated them, when I really just didn't understand them until I ended up with one of my own. Now I can't imagine life without a kitty to love.

Thanks for visiting my TT! :)

Thanks for stopping by.

This is really cool. :) I thought only dogs could do these...I've always thought cats were too selfish for their own good (blame that on my own cats who only care about their food). :P

Great list. Happy Thursday!

Thank you for sharing those with us Zeus. The story of Scarlett is one of my favorites. She was such a brave kitty to run back and forth, back and forth into the burning building to save her kittens. Wow!

Great list, I can say I learned something new today. I'm allergic to cats so I'm a dog person. Happy TT

All I'm saying is that 420 kittens makes me fall down on my four knees and express my gratitude for being spayed!

And, Zeus...I forgive you for not including me among this exclusive list of 13. I suppose I was omitted because I'm only known for being selfish, passing a lot of gas, and begging for treats.

I'll bet it was fun looking all that up for the TT. :) Thanks for doing all the work so we can just enjoy.

It's no wonder cats used to worshipped in some ancient cultures :) PS-I was so sorry to read about your traumatic spa visit. Glad you have such a protective human in your life!

We used to watch Miracle Pets and watch some very heroic pets...lots of very smart kitties.

Our dog is smart about some things and kinda dumb about other stuff...I don't know if she would save us or if we would have to save her.

Thanks for stopping by the garden. It's a nice place for a kitty to take a nap in.

Wow! Hellcat and Brownie are the richest cat in the entire universe.
Those list were great.
Thanks for passing by.

Great celebration of cats! My cat Bob, (yep there really is a Bob cat!) hasn't done anything so noteworthy but I think he's great. He sits on me when I'm ill or upset and 'helps' me with all sortys of things. He also answers to his name and knows some basic commands (which he chooses to follow of course apart from those times when he knows better!).
