My human pet has been trying something...shall we say...interesting? I actually think it is more of an oxymoron myself, but she feels otherwise. I decided in an effort of fairness I would open it up to all of you so we can settle this once and for all.
The riddle is this:
If you decide to wake up every morning and follow Leslie Sansone and her Walking Off The Pounds regime, but you never move from your starting spot, is this really walking two miles?
The human pet says yes. I say no.
What do you think?

Ha ha ha, Zeus. Do you walk 2 miles a day either way?? I didn't think so.... guess you can't talk then.
that's what exercisers do all the time at the gym. they "walk" or "elliptical" for MILES, but they look at the same spot on the wall for the whole time.
And I don't know why the stupid vet calls my Pooh Bear "Poo". They are clearly just crack smokers. they've been told about a kajillion times.
LOL, Zeus.
I don't know, but if I could get myself to look like Lesley whoever, I'd consider doing the two mile thing.
Tell Marina thanks for coming by my blog.
My agent says it's called "marching in place," not walking.
Of course, she was a band geek, so...
Zeus
I thought Miles was a Meezer. How do you walk off Miles?
*ABBY*
PS
I have been missing yu Zeus! It was gud hearing from you 2-day! *big kitty smile*
Mama duck: I think the fact that I get off of the couch means I can open my mouth when it comes to issues concerning exercise.
Carmen: I stare at the same spot too, but then I fall asleep. It's not exercising.
Colleen: I think you look fine just the way you are!
Kukka: Don't tell anyone, but my human pet was also a band geek and did marching band all throughout high school. She played flute and piccolo.
Debra: I have not been able to get on the computer because of my silly human pet and her blasted research. I am very sorry, and I have missed you as well!
I think you are technically correct, Zeus, although the exercise benefits may be the same either way. But really, why would you want to walk in place? There are no mailboxes to sniff that way.
Hmm...I'm not sure but I think if the pet is moving then that usually means there are some calories being burned. I don't know if you can call it walking but Meowmy says she "walks" at the gym (notice she walks TO the gym, then walks AT the gym, and then walks home) which makes no sense at all to me.
This is too funny. Of course you are correct, Zeus because after all, you're the Cat.
We just don't see the point of 'walking" but not going anywhere! It must be a weird bean thing.
Are you still considered to be a band geek if you were in the marching band but didn't play an instument?
Um...walking without going anywhere...I would say NO that is not really walking! But I'm sort of confused because I don't know what a marching band is...I'm going to have to check with my mum.
if a sammy falls down the stairs ('acause I pushed him) and there is no mommy here, does he still make a thud? - Miles
Yeah - believe it or not, our people used to watch a show that was supposed to train you how to lift weights and stuff - they actually sat with their butts on the couch while the tv people worked-out. It was pretty embarrassing for us.
Only a bean could walk without going anywhere. Poor Lady Pet. Help her find her way, Zeus.
I think you can say you walked two miles worth. But since you didn't go anywhere, you didn't walk two miles.
wake up? in the morning? TO EXCERCISE? that's just madness.
No way, it would take a lot of laps arownd the cowch to go two miles.
Is thare a burd involved? If thare was a burd curcling arownd the cowch I would consider running two miles...but then again, why wudn't she just wait until the burd got tired?!?!? Hmmmmm...
The cat (Zeus) is always right, period. ~Merlin, Shadow, Ko KO
I think she needs one of them cat exersize weels.
Walking without moving?? Wow, that sounds like and exercise I'd love. Can I do it on my couch?? Let's try....oh, the couch is so soft, oh dear there is a sunbeam there...I guess I could rest up before I............
