Morning present

Dear human pet,

This morning when you got out of bed, you walked over to turn on the light, and you screamed to the high heavens when you saw the present that I had left for you. I don't understand why you were so frightened. I hadn't meant for it to scare you. I thought you would like it!

I had worked very hard to slay that big, fat, wood cockroach, and I was so proud of myself for keeping you safe while you slept. I thought for sure that you, of all people, would have appreciated my efforts. Considering all of the misunderstandings we have had these past few days, I wanted to put all of that behind us so we could start off fresh, but you didn't even like the present!

Then when you went to take a shower, you crawled the walls to get out of your bedroom so you wouldn't even have to come near the present. I followed you to the bathroom, and I sat outside, hoping that when you came out, you might acknowledge me with a thank you or something of that nature. I thought perhaps you might have missed the present so I went to the bedroom and brought it over to you again. I left it right by the door to the bathroom so you would have to step on it in order to get out.

You screamed again though and jumped over it! I thought maybe it was alive again so I pawed it down in the hallway. It was dead, though, and I didn't understand what all the fuss was about. Were you not happy that I even tried to keep this house clean of infestation? What must a feline do to bring a smile to your face?

I just wish you would have liked my present.

Poor Zeusy - when Sammy and Miles bring me presents, no matter how gross they are, I still say Thank you - sometimes even before I scream and go to throw up. - Meezers Mom

Zeus - good job. Our Mommy loves it when we drop spiders on her - she screams "Thanks alot" and then runs. But at least she thanks us. - Sammy

Eww Zeus, you worked so hard. It's too bad your momma didn't appreciate it. Georgia says humans don't like dead things. Our momma wasn't too happy with her for things that she brought...

Momma said I better not get ideas from Miles and Sammy about the spiders (I love spiders!) because if I drop one on her she'd start running and never come back.

Wow, Zeus! This is just another example of how good manners have become a thing of the past. What happened to a well-written and sincere thank-you card when you receive a gift?

I guess she doesn't realize you would have much rather kept that gift to yourself, but because of your extreme sensitivity and thoughtfulness, you shared with her.

Ungrateful humans!

Good job Zeus. Mom always tells us how great we are when we kill the bugs. Then she scoops them with a paper towel and she goes, "EEEEWWWWW" while she runs to the trash. What's the big deal? Isn't she even going to try it out first? Moms are hard to understand.

Maybe she'd rather haf it alive so she can play wif it an kill it herself? Try that next time, maybe fur Mother's Day. I found a couple ants last night!

You've done your best, Zeus, keeping your home vermin free. If she doesn't appreciate your hard work, next time just leave the roaches alone and see how she likes a LIVE one!!

Whoa Zeus what a kill! We have heard you Texans have whopper sized buggies out there! Keep up the good work. A little appreciation is god once and a while, but isn't freaking her out like that 10 times the fun?!?

Good job Zeus. Sometimes the beans don't appreciate what we do. But I think she would rather have a dead pest than a live one.

It seems to me your Mom is treating you wicked. Would you like our Mom to talk to her, straighten her out or something? This can't go on. I think what you did was heroic and brave and above and beyond. I am sure our Mom feels the same way.......oh excuse me, Mom wants to say something..
Patches

Patches, shame on you, you have no idea how I feel about the matter. Patches gets a little carried away, I think it is her age, sorry.......she likes to speak for me. I am sure Zeus was just trying to help, but I understand completely........

Maybe what you need to do is make sure the terrible thing is in two pieces. Just last week the same thing happened here, one of those great big gross bugs had gotten into the house (and really, it wasn't my fault like the last time with the drain pipe). Well, if I hadn't gotten it, it would have gone right into Mom's bedroom and might have eaten her so something! So when Mom saw it in the morning and saw that it was in two pieces, she knew it was dead. And I got a pet and a "You're such a good good boy, William. Thank you."

Gosh, I don't know, Zeus, maybe you should just give your mum a hug. I am sure she will appreciate it better. Humans prefer different kind of gifts. Maybe you should give the bug to Isis.

We agree wif WMD....break it into 2 parts. We used to have those buggies when we lived in TX, Momma hated them too. But, we neve shared wif her...just left legs for her to find!

Humans just don't understand our gifts. We have had those big cockroaches as well and they are sooo much fun to play with. Mom screams too - that's how we know that she's not going to appreciate what we are doing.

Maybe your Mom might appreciate your gift more if you putted it on her??? Surely she'll remember to thank you then!
