Scavenger Hunt 2009

Due to the neverending drought in Houston, the human pet has not been walking Ares. She knows she should be waking up at 6:00 AM, but that seems ludicrous to her as it is her summer vacation. For all of our sakes, though, she needs to walk that demon of destruction, or else, I fear for our safety.

Therefore, my friends, I have devised a plan.

Help me help my human pet by submitting ideas for things my human pet has to find on her walks with Ares. She will take photos once she has found the item, and then, she will post the pictures on here to prove she actually walked the dog. If for some reason the human pet cannot locate your suggested item, she will make a one-dollar donation to Laney in support of Mutt Strut 2010.

Suggestions will be taken in the order in which they are received, and only one item will be sought for per day. Feel free to submit as many ideas as you wish as the human pet has a lot of walking to do. Proof will come within 24 hours in the form of a quick post.

So let's get to walking and donating! Remember: You have until August 10 to help Laney reach her goal of becoming the Mutt Strut 2010 Poster Pooch!

We want to see a fire hydrant!

We think your human should look for money - we have a friend who paid for a pizza party with change she found on the street (it took a while!) She picks up every penny she sees - and there are more than you would think.

P.S. Dobby says thanks for the suggestion about reading! He is the only cat around here who might actually want to read a book if he could. Tasha once took a book out of the bookcase and tore a page out (it happened in about two seconds - she was a kitten at the time) so we know she's not interested.

I think you should look for a red two-door car.

We want to see a bird in a tree!

(Preferably with a kitty climbing in the tree after it like Pixie did a week or two ago, but we're not picky... MOL)

Purrs and hugs,

We want to see a rabbit in a garden. It doesn't have to be loose, it can be in it's hutch.

a big scary bug!

How about a garden gnome, elf or gargoyle? In the absence of those maybe a gazing ball or other piece of unusual garden statuary.

How fun!! Good use of a pet!

How about a kitty in the wild?

A plastic pink flamingo! Also one of those fancy garden flags that people put in their yards/porch for decoration. Maybe you can find a discarded dog toy/ball?

How about a red wagon? I wanted to say a cat in a hat, but Jen said that wasn't really fair...

If she really gets up at 6:00, how about a picture of the sunrise?

And we think two street signs at an intersection will prove she was outside.

Mishcat sent us over. Love the treasure hunt idea! We live in tropical Malaysia so it's always hot here. But we do go for walks around 6 in the evening when it cools down.

We would like to see something really American: a drive through of some kind! A bank, fast food place or whatever....

Love this idea - it is hard to get up and get going to walk our pups! Here are some ideas to look for ...
a colorful or unusual mailbox, something yellow, white picket fence, red roses, a birdhouse, a funny street sign, or even look for things beginning with the letters of the alphabet! we will be back to see how this is going! Good luck!

I just wanted to say thank you again to all of the wonderful people stopping by to submit ideas. At this rate, we will have one for every day up until the final donation date of August 10. Together, we can accomplish something wonderful!

I would like to see a photo of a river or stream, preferably with ducks.

Or if none in your area then a large duck pond.

Ducklings may count for 2 walks!!
(or 1 walk and a Bonio treat!)
