Dognapping

This is where I would love to tell you that I have this fabulous reason as to why I have not posted anything since last Wednesday. This is also where I fail miserably should I try as I have no good reason for my laziness other than a lack of inspiration. Call it my June hump.

I did hear something rather interesting, however, over the weekend, and I am curious as to whether or not other beings have heard this as well. At a small get-together on Saturday evening, I was listening to one of the human pet's friends (who we shall call Shannon) discuss how she had seen "our puppy", Ares, on local flyers around her town.

Needless to say, Shannon meant our breed of puppy, not Ares, as he was lolly-gagging on the deck the entire time. According to Shannon, people were on the lookout for purebred puppies in local neighborhoods. Once they found these poor puppies, they were stealing them and placing them online at various websites (such as Craigslist) to be sold.

When someone asked why people would do that, Shannon replied, "To make money in this economy. Some of those dogs are worth a fortune."

Has it really come to this? Selling dogs on "the black pet market"? The human pet conducted a search on Google to see if it were possibly true, and sure enough, there seems to be some information indicating that purepred puppynapping is on the rise. Because the pet enjoys being helpful, she found this informative article that includes tips on how to be safer in your daily routine with your puppy and asked me to pass it along.

Has any of this been happening in your hometown? We're all very curious over in this part of the country. Ares, the one exception, is blissfully unaware as, being a good brother, I have placed him on a need-to-know-basis, and right now, he does not need to know.

Oh that is just terrible. We haven't heard of any cases in our immediate area - yet

PS: Mom says she wants to see some more Ares pics!

I fear for the life of the a#@hole who would DARE to ever take Ares away from Zeus.

But then again, anyone who takes another person's dog (with the possible exception of saving the dog from abuse by the owner), deserves bad, BAD things to happen to him/her.

It's hard to believe that people who stoop to this level. It's so wrong. I haven't heard anything about this in my neck of the woods ~~~ yet.

Sadly I'm not surprised. Some people will use any lame excuse they can to do harm, and the "economy" is just the latest. It's all excuses, and no good reasons...

Makes mom uncomfortable when someone even jokingly says that they want to steal me.

So strange you should bring this up. #1 heard this afternoon about a lady living nearby who had six 6-week old boxer puppies stolen from her barn last night. We cannot even begin to contemplate the evil of the people who do such things and the pain the lady and boxer mum are feeling. One little guy managed to foil the thieves and is still with his mum.

That is just terrible! In our town, we noticed that the weekly police beat was double what it has been. Unfortunately, the bad economy might be to blame.

That is awful. We hope the people who do it get caught.
Zeus, you are very thoughtful to protect Ares from such frightening news.

We heard of a couple incidents last year but nothing recently. Just lots of stuff stolen out of open garages like golf clubs & such.

Ridiculous. And dispicable. Wow.

Those poor puppies. I hope the evil doers are caught. We have such a hard time understanding how some people can be so cruel.

Yikes! That is awful but I know your mom will be careful with Ares.

We have heard of that, but it's not happening here, as far as we know. We did have some very large puppy mills get closed down in our area recently, so there are purebreds here that need homes, but the rescues here are quite careful about who adopts them.

We don't like that at all. What a nasty thing to do.
