He could DIE!

Lately, my human pet has grown overprotective. Normally, I find that trait endearing, but she's fast approaching insanity at the rate she's going when it comes to Ares. Let me give you some of the finer examples from this past week alone. All examples are actual quotes and have been stated to neighbors and friends.

"If he gets string in his mouth and he swallows it, he could die."

"If he chews on that lamp cord, he could die."

"If I leave him alone on the bed, he could break a leg and die."

"If he sits out in the heat, he could get overheated and die."

"If he swallows too many carpet fibers, he could die."

I'm sensing a theme here, and somehow, the movie, The Wrestler, comes to mind.

Is Ares really Randy "The Ram" Robinson?

Basically, I don't think Ares should be doing all that much, at least from the human pet's perspective. Maybe I should encourage her to keep him in his room from now on and tell her it's for her own peace of mind. I may never have to deal with the puppy again.

This could work out brilliantly!

Until, drawn back by the thrill of his theme song playing upon his entrance, the roar of hundreds of good ol' boys screaming his name, and the lure of the roped and unforgiving ring, Ares comes bounding back for one more attempt at glory. There's just one problem: He can't come back unless he has some patented move. Everyone knows that's why The Ram could come back at the end of the movie - he had to do the Ram Jam one more time.

Not to fear my feline friend. The overprotectiveness will wear off. Soon your mom will be so preoccupied with Ares poop on the floor, torn couch cushions, overturned garbage bins and generally Boston terrorizations, she won't have time to be worried about strings and lamp cords!

PS: Has anyone warned you about BT zoomies? I had a BAD case of it last night - cats should definitely stay far away when this occurs.

Haha! Zeus, our mom is over protective like that with us too! If we don't eat our food just one time she's rushing us off to the v-e-t!

The Creek Cats said...

LOL! Our mom is totally like that with all of us.

Hi Zeus,

I keep trying to send you my address, but it doesn't like the email we get from your comments--it bounces right back to us.

Can you contact me via my contact form on the page and send me the email I should send it to?

Thanks

Chey

Sounds like most mums are all the same. Our mum drives us mad sometimes. If we are walking in the fields with her and she loses sight of us, she starts hollering for us and then when she sees us again, she tells us we shouldn't wander off or we may get lost. For goodness sake mum, we have lived here all our lives!

Mom will get over the 'he could die phase! She may get to the 'I'm gona put you in time out' phase soon!

Um, who's da Ram and what's a ram jam? Dat over protectif stuff will stop soon, puppies haf a tendancy to become dawgs and start doing not so cute things.

Suzuki: I most certainly will!

Meezers: Oh I know that move quite well...

Mack: What is a BT zoomie? I don't think I know what that is.

Island Cats: I don't think she's that bad, but you never know...

Creek Cats: I feel for you...

Khyra: If he ran with scissors, I'd be impressed!

Cheysuli: Will do!

Eric and Flynn: Human pets can be so demanding. I wish sometimes my pet would just settle down for once.

Angel: Oh, she's already there. I promise.

Zippy, Sadie, Speedy: Unfortunately, Urban Dictionary provided a less than appealing definition of ram jam with its second post. I am referring to the first post. I hope no one is offended by the link. That will teach me to check next time what I am linking to...

Oh dear, it does all sound a bit "Di(r)e" at your end.... We hope she comes down to earth soon.

From #1: Thanks for the very nice comment on our blog. Believe me, this place is a mess most of the time, housework never having been a passion of mine. As for the rest, I am single and work from home, so I am mostly around to attend to the gang. Except when I occasionally take a brief break. London next week. Yes!

Well Zeus, Mom's are overprotective, 'specially when it comes to 4-footed things that are cute & little, like puppies, so you have to make allowances for that.

But really, what does that say about you & Isis? Are you no longer cute & little? Does she no longer care if YOU chew a string and die?! Pity. I knew that would happen the minute a dawg set paw in your house.

wow, your mommy is over protective. personally, i think she is just couching her wanting the bed all to herself with those other concerns. i mean really "if I leave him alone on the bed..." uh huh. i think she is just jealous.

i wonder what my patented move would be. maybe i'll work on one this weekend. like maybe the "paw bop to the eye" at 3AM. Or the "run across daddy's Mr. Winky at 2AM" Yeah....

Sounds like the woofie has taken over your house!
I have been so behind in visiting my friends lately, I haven't even congratulated you on helping your human to do so well with her thesis.
Have a great weekend Zeus!

Don't worry Zeus there is hope. My mom sounded like that when I was a baby...she's so small we could step on her and she could die...she might get in the dryer and she could die...the dog could step on her and she could die...

They got over it!

I know what you are talking about Zeus. My humans say that about me every time I get up on the ledge. They think I'm going to fall off or something...

Hey Zeus, I noticed that you mentioned WV over at Chey's blog. Has your human pet ever been there? My human is originally from WV so she was excited to see you mention it!

Your human is from Pittsburgh? My mom is in Morgantown, WV picking my human sister up from WVU.

I'm so glad to hear another pet parent has these same issues. I'm always so worried about these same types of things with the girls.
