I've fallen for you...literally

My human pet lacks coordination. It's always been quite easy to lure her down the hallway at 6:00 in the morning, roll over onto my back, and have her trip over my fluffy belly. The pet has now learned to wait and to step over me, but just because she's evolved doesn't mean I stop trying. I had taken great pride in that devious skill, until I read this article at the Los Angeles Times.

Apparently, according to the CDC, 86,000 people are injured every year in falls related to their pets.

And here, I thought I was above being a statistic.

Now, with a little puppy running around, it's even more obvious that this house is statistic-bound. The human pet has fallen in the backyard at least three times now when she has taken the little war god out for his bathroom break. He runs full speed at her, weaving in and out of her legs, and when she is not looking, he lunges for her ankles. Canine and homo sapien become a tangled mess of slobbering, panting, rolling, and let's not forget, cussing.

Maybe we pets could make some sort of X-games sport out of this. I see potential.

Have you given your human pet a good trip lately? I would love to hear about it. Leave it in the comments today, and let's swap details.

My nick name is speed bump. as I enjoy laying in mid-path in the hallway and refuse to move. My parents have learned to step over me though - except when it's dark!

When Grete dog was first with us, my mom had her on one of those extender leashes...Grete saw something fun and took off...she hit the end of that leash and my mom didn't have time to let go and she went flying to the dirt!

Yeah, I like trying to trip my humans on the stairs too. I know I've done my job when I hear one of them yell, "Dammit, Elvin!!"

Our Mom thinks she is a super cat and can go down the hall in the dark. With two black kitties, it is easy to stop ans let her bump into us. We have not made her fall yet, but we have started learning new words. But then we get cuddles to make sure we have not been hurt!

We haven't done that, but you sure are giving us some good ideas for tonight!

Do you have stairs in your house, Zeus? If so, try this. Wait until your Pet uses the stairs while carrying something. Then run ahead of her and position yourself squarely in the center of the staircase, 2 or 3 steps ahead of her. This will almost always cause a fall and if not, at least cause her to spew forth a lot of words from the "bad word" list.

Heh heh! That puppy is going to keep her on her toes, or off them whichever way you look at it!
Mom tripped over me once and seriously sprained her ankle. -Shaggy

Ha ha! We just don't move when the Humans are approaching, or move very very slowly in front of their feet if they are carrying something. It's so much fun!

No puppies tripping humans around here. We all have to be careful of that big boy dog though. He'll easily trip somebody.

I trip my mom all the time. I like to follow her around the apartment and she is always having trouble walking!

We like to run up and roll on our backs in front of the staff also. They don't usually fall, but we get to hear four letter words.

Perhaps she deserves to fall every now and again for getting that silly dog when all she needed was you, Zeus.
